How to market a site
You have to be creative to get your site noticed. Simple techniques include making sure your address is on the bottom of all your emails, and present on all your paper documentation.
But there is a lot more you can do than that. If your website is about an area of expertise, restoring and selling/hiring vintage vehicles for example, then why not write some guides about the techniques you use and have a question and answer section on your website? People will keep coming back to your website as a useful resource and your name will quickly spread around the internet as 'the place to go' for vintage vehicles.
If you sell sewing equipment then why not offer some free sewing patterns? Or set up your website to automatically rotate a few different patterns every week? People will keep coming back to see what you have put up this week, and if they find something useful they will probably buy the equipment off you and mention you to their friends with similar interests.
There is a way to make any site interesting. You just have to find it.
